A shooting occurred in Quebec City inside the Quebec Islamic Cultural Centre on Sunday while approximately 50 people were inside for the prayer. As a result, at least six people were killed and several injured. A white male has been arrested and suspected to be responsible for this shooting. According to local media, there are some people in Quebec City has viewed Muslims as a threat. Back in June in 2016, a pork head was thrown outside the shooting location, this action was seen as an act of provocation. Which this can be seen that it is not a single event. The event occur right after the president of the United States Donald Trump announced the “Muslim Ban”, and the Prime Minister of Canada said in the tweet as a respond, Canada welcomes those who flee persecution, terrorism and war. From this shooting, it can be seen that for those who have their own prejudices against Muslims has gradually emerged more publicly, the differentiation of religion in society will gradually intensify. From the current situation, the shooting can be seen as the aftermath of the Muslim ban; countries includes Canada, UK and Germany all states an opposition perspective on the ban. Also, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore issued a statement today, saying that there is no reason to attack the sacred places of worship, also expressed sincere condolences to the families of the victims.
