-The major concern about Imams being actively involved in Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) is that it will cause dis-empowerment of the religious leader and create a breach of trust between the Muslim youth and the leader due to CVE poses to Islamic religious leaders who collaborate with federal law enforcement with the generality of the community. This will undermine the integrity and the image of the religious leaders.
-Also, religious leaders involved in CVE literally alienate themselves from being contacted by youth who would most likely join extremist organizations or commit lone wolf extremist acts, which not only not stopping the potential growing of terrorism but in fact encouraging it.

-CVE also allows the federal government to indirectly shape the interpretation of Islam, which effectively defines who are the “Good Muslims” or “Moderate Muslims” and who are the “bad Muslims”, which creates the concept of “us” and “them”, leading to a wider divergence within the Muslim community.
