Heavily-armed militants attack an army base in Indian-administered Kashmir

Key details:

18/09/2016 from Japan

-Two parties crossed fire for several hours and 17 Indian soldiers and 4 rebels were killed in the strike.

Assessment:

The conflict started last month when the Indian army killed Burhan Wani, the commander of the separatist group Hizbul Mujahideen and started off the protest and various attacks on the Indian police station and government buildings. This attack on the army base is one of the backfires of the death of Burhan Wani and there will be more for certain if the Indian government fail to react properly and keep provoking the militants.
